Hey cyclist, how are you?
It’s been a month since you signed up for Go Velo. We hope you’ve already made many safe bike kilometers and that the registration with the app goes well. We all have good and bad days and of course there are days when you prefer to take the car. Very logical, that’s why we like to tell you more about all the advantages of cycling. To make sure you continue to cycle to work. Unfortunately, our app sometimes also has a bad day and then it may be the case that your bike registration has not gone well. We have therefore listed all the frequently asked questions (FAQs) for you. Do you have other questions, feel free to send us a mail to helpdesk@govelo.nl.
Why should I cycle to work? All the benefits at a glance
- Cyclists are less often sick
Research has shown that people who often cycle, take up fewer sick days for 50%. Regular cycling also reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and decreases the risk of early death by almost 40%. - Cycling is good for the environment
Cycling instead of driving is of course very sustainable. A bike runs on muscular strength and not on fuel. In this way, you can help out mother nature! - Cycling is good for your wallet
When you cycle, you save money. For example, you do not pay for high fuel prices. In addition, for a bicycle you don’t pay road tax and also no insurance costs. This means lots of financial benefits when you leave the car at home or when you don’t own a car at all. - Cycling gives you a good mood
During a bike ride, endorphins are released into your brain. This will bring stress reduction and a happy feeling at the same time. After cycling, you’ll really feel happier! - Cycling makes you smart
Two to three hours after cycling, your brains function better. In the long term, cycling ensures that the aging process of your brain progresses less fast. - Cycling gives you fewer wrinkles
The combination of cycling and moving in the open air has a positive effect on your skin. In fact, cycling produces a high production of collagen; a substance that causes wrinkles to stand out less quickly. - Cycling is social
If you cycle regularly, you have a better mood and that promotes the atmosphere on the work floor. And if you cycle regularly, you are in contact with your surroundings. You cross the roads with other cyclists or catch snippets of conversations. Pretty cozy, isn’t it? - Cycling is sport
A daily bike ride of 30 minutes gives you enough physical activity. Who still needs a gym membership?! A lovely side effect is that you burn 150 kilocalories extra, if you cycle at an average speed of 18 km/h. Enough arguments to cycle to work more often, don’t you think?
